Club May Day 1906
The last Social Day of the Club year May 9th, 1906, was attended by 70 club members and 34 guests, who will not soon forget the noonday picnic at beautiful Union Park. It is said the fine weather was wholly due to the persistence of the Chairman of the day, who would not give the weather men one minutes rest until he promised “Fair and warmer” weather. Two long tables placed in the pavilion were artistically decorated with lilacs, around which the happy company gathered. The program was not pre-arranged, but was a good one nevertheless. Mrs. Cummins, chairman, called upon Mesdames Durley, Dicknell and Weitz for picnic stories and experiences, to which they very appropriately responded. The luncheon concluded with the singing of “America” by the entire company, led by Miss Marie Chambers. The committee in charge, Mesdames J. C. Cummins, M. M. Pratt. P/ B. Frye and Walter McHenry are to be congratulated for the planning of one of the most delightful of our always pleasant social days.
