Membership in the Des Moines Women’s Club is a warm and rewarding experience, nurturing your specific interests in music, art, public affairs, history, lifestyle, antiques, literature, and drama. Membership in the Club ensures you of the opportunity for new friendships, entertainment, civic involvement, and engagement with many facets of our community and the world.
We are very proud to call Hoyt Sherman Place our “Clubhouse.” We meet in the beautiful Art Gallery at Hoyt Sherman Place, and our activities support the preservation of the house and foundation. Our Club Days are on Wednesdays during our program year, which runs from September through May. A typical Club Day begins with a program at 11:00 am, followed by a catered lunch (members sign up and pay for this in advance to get a head count), and conclude with another program from 1:00 to 2:00. Programs are often led by a featured speaker or presenter, and the great variety of topics provide us with opportunities for life-long learning. We also provide scholarships and hold an art exhibition in the gallery each year, as well as leading some social outings in the community.
